After watching game film and preparing for the star Ole Miss running back commitment all week Farragut contained Mathers and the Blaze offense in the first half allowing only seven points. The Admirals carried a 17-7 lead into half, but starting quarterback Rule left the game after three series due to sickness and it was only a matter of time till Mathers broke free. He ran wild in the second half and ended up with a school record 346 yards on 26 carries and five touchdowns. The Admirals never gave up and were able to cut the lead to three with 30 seconds left, but were unable to recover the onside kick ending their season 41-38.
