Farragut Cruises Past Bearden, 40-9

It took a lightning delay Friday night to slow down the Farragut High School football team.

Senior Tanner Thomas rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries as the visiting Admirals beat Bearden 40-9 in a non-region game.

Farragut (4-0) continued its fast start this season, while Bearden (2-2) lost its second consecutive game.

“We were just pumped up,” Farragut senior guard Clay Jolley said. “It’s Bearden week, so it’s always a big game. I think we might have been a little more pumped up because we weren’t ranked, but it’s Bearden week, so we were ready.”

143 yards and three touchdowns.

Naumoff rushed for 44 yards on six carries and scored on a 9-yard run.

Farragut’s offense was sharp early behind Naumoff, who completed his first six passes for 78 yards.

The Admirals marched 76 yards on their opening drive and scored on Naumoff’s 24-yard TD pass across to Justin Kirkendall.

Bearden gained one first down on its opening drive, but stalled when Cameron Jones was sacked.

After a short punt, Farragut started at Bearden’s 34 and scored eight plays later on Naumoff’s 6-yard slant pass to Cooper Hardin.

Naumoff was intercepted by Cameron Miller midway through the second quarter, but one play later, Farragut’s Michael Travis recovered a fumble at Bearden’s 27.

Thomas scored three plays later on a 2-yard run for a 21-0 lead with 5:31 left in the half for a 21-0 lead.

The game then went into a lighting delay of 1 hour, 20 minutes.

When play resumed, Farragut’s defense forced another three-and-out.

The Admirals then moved 82 yards on 14 plays and scored on Naumoff’s 6-yard pass to Davis Simmons. Farragut led 27-0 at the half.

Thomas had 110 rushing yards at halftime.

“Our offensive line fought hard till the end,” Jolley said. “We can’t take complete credit because it’s still Tanner Thomas.”
