It’s Paul Glintenkamp, President of the Farragut High School Football Booster Club. Enclosed are just a few notes on what’s been going on and what is coming up for our program:

A sincere THANK YOU to all the parents and Coach Courtney who made the Clean Up Day a big success this Saturday! We were fortunate to get the work in before the rain came and we accomplished all our tasks and projects by 11:30am – Great job! We were gone before we got drenched and were able to enjoy the remainder of the weekend. Please swing by the practice field and check out the new landscaping by the Turf Field that everyone worked so hard to accomplish.

Special thanks go out to John Farner and Blaine Construction for donating the Bobcat earth mover. John, we could never have accomplished all the work without the machine and your generous involvement. Also, thanks go out to Mark Jetton and Ken Phillips for operating the Bobcat and clearing the way for us to get the work done on Saturday. We also had great contributions from Home Depot and Saplings, thank you!

Spring Football is here and in full swing. Coach Courtney has got our team motivated and enthusiastic and the leadership from our seniors is apparent. The attitude we’ve seen so far and the bonding with the entire team is great to see. We also have some new coaches (welcome back Coach Doucette!) that have gotten our players energized and working hard.

The Annual BLUE – GREY Spring Game is set for Friday Night May 17th at 7:30 pm. Please spread the work and bring your family and friends. This is an exciting time for our team and a good chance to see all our players in action and demonstrate how they’ve improved and worked hard to prepare for next season.

Sponsorship renewals & recruitment of new sponsors is underway. Our committee is working hard to renew the existing sponsors and bring in new ones for next season. We welcome anyone who would like to join us and help raise $$ for the team and program. Contact Paul Glintenkamp at glintenkampp@yahoo.com if you would like to help or if you know of a potential sponsor.

We are working on getting a feature speaker for the Gala Dinner that will rock ticket sales! Stay tuned and visit the website over the coming weeks for details…

Season tickets are a great opportunity to raise additional money for the club! Remember that 100% of all $$ collected for season tickets goes to the Booster Club. We will arrange for sales of tickets on the website very soon so please check the website and sign up when the link is there. Tickets will be available to pick up at our Will Call booth prior to first game (or 2nd game).

Next Booster Club meeting is Tuesday May 14th at 7:00pm in The Commons.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

It’s Paul Glintenkamp, President of the Farragut High School Football Booster Club.

Last week we had our recent Booster Club meeting and the attendance was good and participation even better. I’m excited for the program as we start to head into spring. Here are some recent updates and topics of interest to all of us:

Sponsorship renewals & recruitment of new sponsors is underway. We have about 10 people on the committee and they are starting to reach out to new target sponsors to sign them up for the 2013 season. It is not too late to join the committee so please contact me if you’d like to help us in this most important activity.

The April 12th luncheon for “target sponsors” at Calhoun’s on Kingston Pike has been scheduled. I will meet this week with the committee and, if necessary, we will postpone the luncheon in order to get more participation. Currently I’ve heard from some target sponsors but not enough to hold the date this week, so if necessary we will postpone to April.

Spring Clean Up Day is approaching. Saturday April 20th is the day and we will expect all parents to participate and help to get this task down in order to get the field and facilities ready for Spring Football. The spring practices will start in early May so we need to have our part done in advance.

Season tickets if a great opportunity to make additional money for the club! Remember that 100% of all $$ collected for season tickets goes to the Booster Club. We will arrange for sales of tickets on the website very soon and encourage all parents, friends, former players and those connected to The FHS Football program to purchase their tickets asap in order to improve our financials for the season. All tickets will be held in “will-call” status and available shortly before the season.

We will hold a Sponsorship Committee meeting this Wednesday in The Commons at 6:00pm. At this meeting we will decide on a path forward for the luncheon and also assign specific target sponsors and sponsorship renewal assignments, so please attend.

Our big project targets for this year are (1) the video scoreboard and (2) the Team Room. Let’s do all we can to get both of these important improvements for our team and program to move us forward!

Email me at glintenkampp@yahoo.com to volunteer or show up at the meeting this Wednesday.

Thank you,

Paul Glintenkamp

As we write the last chapter and close the book on the 2012 Admiral Football season, the highlights contain many positive reflections and encouragement for the future.

Before the season even began, everyone knew that the Admirals faced one of the toughest schedules in Tennessee. Now, after the fact, a recent analysis determined that in Division I, Class AAA, the “Toughest Schedule” in Tennessee based on Opponents’ Success was…in the #1 slot…Farragut High School. Still, the team did not back down from the strength of its competition. During the course of the regular season, the Ads earned quality wins over state-ranked teams from McMinn County and Catholic High Schools. The team engaged in extraordinary, fierce battles against state-ranked teams from Oak Ridge and Bearden. The 2012 Admirals were the first team in many, many years to score 41 points against defending state champion Maryville. And, in the final accounting, four of the team’s losses were decided by only 7 points or less.; and, those four losses were decided by a total of only 17 points.

As the regular season statistics are penciled in the history books, we can proudly see Farragut Admirals all over the District 4-AAA Leaderboard:

Passing: #1 Bryan Phillips
Receiving: #1 Thomas Barnett, #5 Christian Jetton, #8 Jake Bruce
Rushing: #2 Jackson Fain
Kicking: #2 Jonathan King
Defense: #3 Ryan Glintenkamp

To the 2012 Farragut Admirals we say “Anchors Away!” to an amazing group of seniors. Student-athletes who will not be defined by a Won/Loss record but who will be remembered as tenacious competitors who never said quit. These young men set sail toward very bright horizons.

And, to the 2013 Admirals, we say “Anchor Down!” The Ads will return a veteran group of football players, including: Phillips, Jetton, Glintenkamp, Farner, Rodriguez, Dunn, Gilliam, White, Partin, Williams, Suadi, Brabson, Farmer, Coffey, Al-Hussein, Saah, Hillencamp, Eggert and many more talented athletes that are certain to build on the legacy and tradition of Farragut Football.

Mark the date, come celebrate the team and its players at the Farragut Admiral Football Banquet, December 2nd, 2012 at X pm at XXXX location.

Go Ads!

Key Matchup:

Can the Admiral defense make adjustments after giving up 630 yards last week to Maryville. Lenoir City has qualtiy athletes at the skill positions and have a balanced offense that will keep the Farragut D on their toes all night.

Players to Watch:

Admiral RB Jackson Fain needs 195 yards to top 1000 rushing yards on the season.

Panther QB Jordan Hall is completing 70% of his passes this season and has only thrown 2 interceptions.

Farragut defenders Ryan Glintenkamp, Jake Bruce and C.T. Leavell led the team in tackles last week with 12, 10 and 8 respectively. They’ll need repeat performances to keep the Panthers out of the end zone.

What’s at Stake:

Heritage is attempting to right the winless ship by sinking Farragut’s. The Admirals are coming off a tough 5 game stretch where they’ve been able to pick up 2 wins against Catholic and McMinn County. While Heritage’s playoff chances continue to diminish, Farragut’s post-season play is still a good possibility and they hope to start the run by coming away from Friday’s game with a win and some much-needed confidence going into the perennial west-side showdown with a 5-1 Bearden team.

Key Matchup:

…is up front. For the first time since the opening game, the original starters are set to take the field. Patty Ducette returns to the lineup to help Brett Dockery and Justin Mowery anchor one of the biggest, most experienced lines in the state.

Players to Watch:

Can Je’Rell Bledsoe do it again? The Mountaineer’s Bledsoe returned a William Blount kickoff for a TD last week against the Governors.

How good is Jonathan King? The Admiral kicker/punter is ranked #1 punter/#4 kicker in the nation by prokicker.com and rightly so. He’s hit 14 of 18 kickoffs through the end zone, averaging 44.8 yards per punt, has hit 4 field goals and is perfect on PATs this season.

How will senior WR/Safety Jake Bruce bounce back of his injury in the West game? In one quarter he had a INT, a fumble recover and 6 tackles. He hopes to improve on that performance against Heritage.

Facts & Figures:

40 or more – 5 of the 6 teams that the Mountaineers have face have scored 40 or more points.
